Dementia Friends sessions for West Yorkshire Police
We're currently delivering dementia friends sessions to West Yorkshire Police in Kirklees. These sessions provide information on what it's like to live with dementia, and then how to turn that understanding into action.
Each session lasts around an hour, and is centred around how to help create dementia friendly communities.
What are dementia friendly communities?
Dementia friendly communities are villages, towns and cities where more people understand dementia, and a community where there is less stigma, fear and avoidance of those living with dementia.
Dementia friendly communities are a place where people are supported to live independently and in their own homes for longer.
Each session is helping to turn communities into dementia friendly ones.
