David is one of the Regional Heads of Operations in our Regulated Division, providing support to managers who work in our services across St Helens, Warrington, Ellesmere Port and Halton.
Working in health and social care since the age of 20, David has always had a passion for helping others to live independently with the right support and care. At Making Space alone he has progressed from a Senior Support Worker, to Team Leader and now to a Regional Head of Operations. His purpose in his role is to ensure that the people we support’s needs are met to a high standard, and that our services achieve Outstanding reports from the CQC.
“I want to be visible and approachable to all those who live and work in the services that I oversee. Making Space perfectly aligns with my personal and professional values and views on what good care looks like. Making Space is unique in the way it truly values the people who work here and allows growth and development. This can be seen by the way they promote from within to senior roles”.
When asked what professional achievements David is most proud of, he said “The thing I am most proud of is the support and difference I make in the lives of the people I have supported over the years, along with leading teams to achieve great support and changing work cultures for the better. I also received a distinction in my Level 5 Leadership and Management in Social Care course”.
The biggest influence in David’s life is his Mum, who was the first woman to be ordained as a priest for the Church of England in Liverpool. She achieved this while raising three boys and seeing her dedication, care and compassion to her parishioners over the years showed David what values really meant and how you live those values. “This also showed me you do not compromise yourself or your values, even when people do not share the same values as you, but you can be empathic and have shared points of view”.
In David’s free time he likes to cook, and loves music, being an avid vinyl collector. In total David has seen well over 200 bands at concerts and festivals.
