Jenny is one of the Regional Heads of Operations in our Supported Living Division, providing support to managers who work in our services across Manchester, Wigan, Preston, Kirklees, Burnley, Blackpool and Lancaster. She strives for continuous improvement, ensuring that the people we support remain central to everything we do.
Jenny is no stranger to the care sector. In 2005 she worked in supported housing on a young person’s scheme as a support worker and loved seeing the difference she could make in a young person’s life. After becoming a senior support worker, she set up a service focused on women who were either involved with or exiting the sex worker industry. This was a complex service where Jenny worked alongside social services, drug and alcohol services, domestic abuse support and schools around safeguarding the women and their families.
Following this, Jenny went on to manage a busy housing support service, a mental health recovery group work service and a new service for clients living with dementia. She then progressed to an operations manager post, which worked across a variety of services while also being the strategic lead for co-production.
When asked what professional achievements Jenny is most of, she said “I am proud of my background in delivering support as a frontline worker and using this experience and knowledge to progress in my career. I have never lost sight of where I came from and that I can offer support and encourage development in the staff that I work with”.
Before joining Making Space, Jenny was looking for a new challenge in her professional career and wanted to work for a values-based organisation. “The values of Making Space aligned to my personal values so it felt like a really good fit”.
Now Jenny has started working at Making Space she already feels part of the family. “Everyone I have met are here for the right reasons. We are unique in that we have many staff who have worked for us for 15 years plus, and on my service visits I have met with some exceptional staff members who remain people focused regardless of what is happening. I want to provide a solid senior management service to our managers and the people we support, ensuring that we are providing the best level of support we can”.
