Anne Broadhurst
Trustee
Anne joined the Board in September 2014. Along with her husband, Anne has been a carer for over 20 years. Together, they look after their son who has a severe and enduring mental health condition.
Anne became a member of Making Space 20 years ago, seeking the fellowship and understanding of her fellow carer members and the support and care “Making Space gave freely and unconditionally and still does”.
Today, as a Trustee of the organisation, she sees her role as being an ambassador for Making Space, as well as making sure it continues to be risk-free, both financially and for the ongoing wellbeing of services users, carers and employees.
But Anne’s role as a Board member is just the tip of the iceberg.
Anne was a Governor for Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (formerly Greater Manchester West) and their lead Governor for seven years.
Anne is the Chair/Organiser of the Making Space support group for service users and carers in Salford. She is the Lead Governor of the Greater Manchester West Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust. She is also Chair of the Salford Mental Health Forum and a member of Salford Healthwatch. Anne represents carers on the Integrated Engagement Board for Salford City Council.
Anne was also part of a four-strong team that was nominated for – and won – the Innovation Award at the 2008 Community Health and Social Care Awards.
With her massive and varied experience in mental health, Anne is passionate about improving services for service users and carers. She believes their concerns should be listened to and acted upon and that better outcomes should always be the goal.
A keen gardener and reader, she is also a Man U fan.
