Trustee

Kathleen joined the Board in September 2019. Having worked within the Health and Social Care sector for over 25 years. She enjoyed a long career and worked to develop psychological services for people who experience serious mental health problems.

Kathleen trained as a clinical psychologist and held several senior positions in Salford and Manchester. Early in her career as Head of Rehabilitation Psychology Services in Salford, Kathleen was involved in the re-settlement of patients from Prestwich Hospital. She spent the next twenty years contributing to the service developments and care of people with schizophrenia, bi-polar disorder and complex mental health needs.

In Kathleen’s last post as Clinical Director of Psychological Services with the Manchester Mental Health and Social Care Trust (previously Manchester Mental Health Partnership) she was a member of the Trust’s Executive Management Team and as a senior director was involved in a wide range of organisational responsibilities.

Kathleen’s clinical work focussed exclusively on people with enduring and serious mental health needs and worked in in-patient and community settings. Her practice has always been evidenced based and supported by research and development initiatives. She was involved with Manchester University Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, both as a supervisor, lecturer and serving on their executive training committee for several years.

After a long and successful career, Kathleen retired in 2009 to care for and spend more time with her mum.

In her spare time, she enjoys travelling and spending time in Italy and Spain, learning Spanish and keeping up with her Italian. She swims twice a week and painting fortnightly, but finds gardening her most rewarding past-time.
