Getting started

Thank you for choosing to fundraise for Making Space.

Thanks to supporters, just like you, we are able to provide the care and support needed to help people live independent and fulfilling lives. You will help people living with dementia, learning difficulties, mental health conditions, carers, as well as older people and carers.

By fundraising for us, you will be making a world of difference to the people we support nationwide or to your local service, it's your choice.

The best part is that we do not take any administration fees from donations so more income is spent on direct, frontline support for the people who use our services. Every penny you raise will go the people that need it most.

Welcome to our fundraising community

We are very happy to welcome you to our team of Fundraising Superstars. Our supporters have taken on some amazing challenges, put on brilliant events and raised money that has made a world of difference to the people we support. Now, you can join them!

The more people you get involved and the more fun you have will lead to a greater chance of you you hitting your fundraising target. Whether it’s your friends, family, colleagues, neighbours or your local shopkeeper, get everyone involved and have a great time doing it. Below are some of our top tips to help you maximise your donations.

Set up an online fundraising page

The simplest way to ask friends, family or colleagues to sponsor you is to set up an online sponsorship page. Click here to create your account to get started.

A fundraising page makes it quick and easy for people to donate to you and read your story. You can share why you’re passionate about Making Space, set a target for how much you want to raise and explain the difference donations makes to the lives of the people Making Space support. Once your page is set up, email the link to your friends, family, colleagues and share across social media to make sure you get the word out there.

Plan your activity well in advance

Planning is essential to successful fundraising. The sooner you plan your fundraising activity, the sooner people can start donating.

This will keep the pressure off and help you avoid calendar clashes! Check out the important safety and legal information you’ll need to consider for the big day.

Share your story

Make sure you let everyone know what you have planned. You can use social media to share pictures, stories and a countdown to the main event. Don’t forget to use the hashtag #WeAreMakingSpace so that everyone can follow your progress on social media.

Seek support from your local community

Contact local businesses, pubs, restaurants or shops to see if they can donate something to help keep your fundraising costs down. They could provide food, raffle prizes or simply put up your poster.

Paying your money in

After all your hard work it’s time to put your feet up but not before you’ve sent in your well earned money.
