Alan joined the Board as a co-opted Trustee in September 2014, bringing with him many years of experience in similar roles with other organisations, as well as the knowledge and insights gained throughout his career in top level management.
Originally qualifying and working as a Certified Accountant (FCCA), Alan took on a range of senior management roles, until he eventually rose to the position of Company Secretary at a major UK listed company.
After a long and successful career, he took early retirement in 2003 and was then appointed a voluntary trustee at Dimensions (UK), an organisation providing care for individuals with learning difficulties. Alan went on to join their main board, acting as Chair of their Audit Committee, and serving the maximum permissible term as a board member before finally stepping down in 2013.
Since retiring, Alan has also been a trustee of a disability sports charity and a pension fund trustee.
When he’s not undertaking his many voluntary roles, Alan involves himself with all things family and is kept busy by his four grandchildren. He also enjoys researching genealogy, walking and travelling the world.
