Making Space has won the Care Innovation Challenge 2025 with the Making It Real G.A.M.E — a creative, co-produced tool that brings the Making It Real framework to life through play and partnership.

These nominations celebrate the compassion, dedication and innovation of our colleagues across the country, all united by a shared commitment to putting people first in everything we do.

World Mental Health Day is a time to reflect, raise awareness, and take action on mental wellbeing. This year’s theme, “Access to Services – Mental Health in Catastrophes and Emergencies,” reminds us that mental health support is vital, even in the most challenging circumstances. At Making Space, we’re committed to empowering people to look after their wellbeing and making support accessible to all.

Making Space, in partnership with Halo Housing Association and Lancashire County Council, has opened Inspiring Minds East – a new supported living rehabilitation service in Burnley. The development provides nine self-contained flats with 24/7 support, helping people living with mental illness build the skills and confidence to move towards independence.

We’re delighted to welcome Beacon Counselling into Making Space. This merger expands our Talking Therapies and wellbeing services, ensuring more people can access vital mental health support.

Making Space has played a key role in developing a pioneering new neurodiversity toolkit for the Liverpool City Region’s criminal justice system. Launched in Liverpool on Friday 19 September, the toolkit brings together more than 60 accessible resources for individuals and families, as well as tailored tools for frontline professionals, helping to create a more inclusive and supportive justice system.
