A newly unveiled artwork at Royal Bolton Hospital, is shining a spotlight on the vital role of carers and volunteers. Created by Ian Peters, a volunteer from our Bolton Carers Service, the piece now proudly hangs in the renovated carers’ room — a space dedicated to supporting those who care for loved ones receiving mental health treatment.

Tuesday 25 February was a pivotal moment for social care as Making Space joined thousands at the Providers Unite Day of Action in Westminster to advocate for vital social care reform, raise awareness of its economic and societal value and demand better funding.

In January, Making Space received a meaningful painting by Ian Peters, a Bolton Carers Service volunteer, now displayed at our Warrington head office. The artwork reflects the resilience and unity of our ‘Windmills Not Walls’ campaign during Covid-19.

Celebrated every year on 5 December, International Volunteer Day (IVD) looks to recognise and celebrate the efforts of volunteers and inspire more individuals to dedicate their time and skills to causes that matter.

At Making Space, we’re proud to support Carers Rights Day 2024 on Thursday, 21 November. This year’s theme, “Recognising Your Rights”, is about ensuring that the UK’s 5.7 million unpaid carers across the UK understand their entitlements and can access the vital support they deserve.
