South Yorkshire businesses bring festive cheer through ‘Real Cost of Christmas’ campaign
Published 20 December 2024
With the generous support of South Yorkshire based businesses - Wiltshire Farm Foods Chesterfield & Doncaster, Taste Village Bistro and Honeysuckle Lodge in Doncaster- people supported in the area by Making Space are getting a brighter Christmas.
This December, Making Space welcomed Wiltshire Farm Foods Chesterfield & Doncaster Branch Manager, Chris Davies, to the Sandalwood Dementia Care Centre. Chris joined the centre’s festive Christmas coffee morning, bringing along three beautiful hampers for a free prize draw, spreading joy to those in attendance.
Wiltshire Farm Foods Chesterfield & Doncaster has also extended its generosity to the Rotherham Carers Christmas Party, donating delicious cakes for the event’s Baking Space stall and thoughtfully preparing five softer meals from their specialist range tailored for attendees with swallowing difficulties. These contributions ensure that everyone, regardless of their swallowing ability, can enjoy a festive meal together.
Chris, shared:
"Making Space does vital work for so many in our community, and we are really pleased to be supporting them with our cakes and hampers this festive season. Our award-winning Softer Foods range brings an additional element of inclusivity which is really what Christmas is all about. Hopefully, they’ll bring some cheer to those who need it most."
‘Real Cost of Christmas’ collection points have also been hosted by Taste Village Bistro (9 The Parade, Church St, Armthorpe, Doncaster DN3 3AD) and Honeysuckle Lodge (Tickhill Road Hospital, Doncaster DN4 8QH) are collecting donations. All donations from this initiative will be thoughtfully distributed between Sandalwood and the Doncaster and Rotherham Carer Support Services, bringing joy and much-needed support to those in need this festive season.
Talking about the support, Making Space, Fundraising Manager, Bob Towers, added:
"Christmas is often seen as a time of joy, but for many, the reality can be quite different, especially for those living with dementia, mental health conditions, learning disabilities, or those caring for loved ones. This year, our Real Cost of Christmas campaign aims to shine a light on the hidden mental health challenges the season can bring while raising vital support for those affected.
“At Making Space, we are dedicated to ensuring that the people we support enjoy the festive season. We are incredibly grateful to the businesses in South Yorkshire that have embraced our campaign. Their generosity has made a real difference.
“A special thanks to Wiltshire Farm Foods Chesterfield & Doncaster for their enthusiastic support across multiple initiatives and to Taste Bistro and Honeysuckle Hospital for helping collect items. Together, their contributions have brought comfort and joy to so many individuals and families this Christmas."
