Greengate House has been awarded a five star rating

Greengate House was rated Excellent by local authority assessors when they paid a visit at the end of September.

Inspectors gave the service full marks across a lengthy list of criteria. Categories included personalised care and support, safeguarding, cleanliness, meeting nutritional needs and respecting and involving the people who use the service.

Three weeks after the inspection date, service manager Caroline Anders received her five star certificate. A further group visit was planned so the whole local authority assessment team can see first hand what a five star residential home looks like.

Caroline said: "We are absolutely thrilled with these results. To have achieved a five star rating is a very proud moment for the whole team.

"It means a lot for everyone's hard work and dedication to be recognised and rewarded in this way. Though we know we do our best for our residents every day, it is always very special to hear from an external assessor that we are running a five star service."

Rachel Peacock, CEO, said: "By striving for excellence, the dedicated care team at Greengate House has achieved one of the first five star ratings in St Helens.

"We are so proud of them for living our Making Space values by dreaming big, having courage to work in new ways to reach new heights and by moving forward together."

Greengate House is a purpose built residential home supporting residents to improve skills, get back into their community and live an independent life. It is rated Good by the CQC (Care Quality Commission), the health and social care watchdog. Residents enjoy daily activities, day trips and weekends away and are closely involved in the planning of their care.

When Healthwatch St Helens visited Greengate House in 2019, they said it was ‘very apparent that the home was not run as a business’ and that there was ‘lots of TLC and extra touches’.
