We have even more reason to celebrate after finding out that we have been named finalists for a whopping 9 Great British Care Awards.

Gb care awards

We have been announced as a finalist for eight individual and team awards and we are also in the running for the title of care employer of the year.

Two of our head office workers are up for individual awards. Executive director of operations, Gaynor Chisnall, who has worked with Making Space for 31 years, is shortlisted for the outstanding contribution to social care whilst Liz Butler, peripatetic service manager, is waiting to find out whether she will be named care innovator of the year.

Other employees who are up for individual awards include team leader Susan O'Sullivan from Oldham Dementia Service and Rochdale Supported Housing, support worker Julie Birkett from Limes Place in Colne, Steven Smith from Greengate House in St Helens and Mary Brown from Derby Dementia Service in the East Midlands.

Earlier this month, Making Space was also shortlisted for four Caring UK Awards

Rachel Peacock, CEO, Making Space, said: "Our employees shone after being shortlisted for 4 Caring UK Awards earlier this year, and now they are showing what they are made of once again at the Great British Care Awards.

"Awards are one way of recognising what your employees are worth. Another, is paying them above the living wage, offering scope for ongoing training, personal development and promotion, and safeguarding their wellbeing."

We will find out if we have won at the Great British Care awards regional heats throughout November. The winners will go through the national finals next spring.
