Stansby Gardens receive £5,000 for a new summer house

Thank you to the Screwfix Foundation for their kind grant of £5,000 to Stansby Gardens, one of our supported housing services in Manchester.

Stansby Gardens offers supported accommodation for up to 10 people with mental health conditions, aged from 24 – 70 years old.

This grant will fund a brilliant new summer house for all tenants to enjoy. It will provide tenants the chance to socialise together, hold meetings and family visits and undertake a range of activities including arts and crafts and exercise classes in a lovely outdoor setting.

Our experiences during the pandemic have helped us all to appreciate and value outdoor space and the benefits it can have on our wellbeing. The importance of spending time in the outdoors has been proven to have a positive impact on people with mental health conditions too.

Ruth Shield, a support worker at Stansby Gardens is thrilled with the grant, Ruth said: “Many of the people we support have been isolating or shielding for long periods of time over the last two years due to the pandemic and the associated restrictions. So, it’s wonderful to be able to provide this extra facility for tenants to spend more time outside in the fresh air.”

We can’t wait to see the final summer house and everyone at Stansby Gardens enjoying it.
