About Doncaster Carers Wellbeing Service
If you’re living in Doncaster and are an unpaid carer for a loved one, relative or neighbour then we are here to help.
Our Doncaster Carers’ Wellbeing Service will support you in your caring role, help you to stay connected in your community and provide you with guidance and advice. We will work with you to find solutions and identify support and resources available to you in Doncaster.
Doncaster Carers Wellbeing Service has made my life so much better. I have support from some wonderful new friends who understand the pressures of being a carer.
What we offer
At Making Space we understand the stress and pressures of being a carer. Our team of professional carer support workers will get to know you and your situation and tailor our services to design a personalised support package.
Being a carer can be physically and emotionally demanding. If you support someone with a long term health condition or disability, we can help you to do so, without it having a negative impact on your life.
Our support will be personalised and holistic. With you we will consider all the areas of your life and what is important to and for you. This could include:
- A statutory carer’s conversation and reviews
- One to one support
- Peer support and groups
- Access to training to support you in your caring role
- Signposting to support to take a break from caring
- E-circular detailing local groups, activities and courses
- Support to access community, health and wellbeing services
- Training both to support you in your caring role and for your own personal development or interests
- Volunteering opportunities
- Information, advice and guidance
Groups and activities
We believe that being a carer is easier when you have people around you who understand what you are going through. Our peer support groups will bring together a network of carers in your local community who will help pick you up when you’re down and celebrate the everyday successes of being a carer. Our teams are based in various community venues across Doncaster.
All our social groups feature bingo, arts and crafts, group quizzes with light-hearted chat and refreshments. Email us or call 01302 986900 for more details.
