About Sandalwood Day Centre
Sandalwood is a social centre for older people.
Sandalwood offers a purpose built ground floor building in its own grounds. Care is taken to ensure that Sandalwood offers a warm and welcome atmosphere.
“When I bring my husband to Sandalwood I know he will be safe and well looked after”.
What we offer
regular live musical entertainment and planned activities and trips away from Sandalwood.
Our support includes:
- A warm, welcoming, safe and Dementia friendly environment
- Regular refreshments including a hot nutritious two course meal
- An individual support plan and risk assessment
- Social activities
- Day respite care so family / carers can continue working, run errands or have a few hours rest.
About the centre
- There is a very popular memory room, designed as a reminiscence experience for people, with local scenes of Doncaster and antique furniture. This also serves as a quiet space where people can choose to spend time reading, completing jigsaw puzzles and have one-to-one sessions with staff.
- We have up to date toilet facilities and staff are available to give any support needed. Other features include raised toilet seats, extra red hand rails for support and red toilet seats.
- Carpets are of one colour throughout the building to help people with sight impairment.
- We have a loop system in place for people with hearing impairment.
- Chairs and tables have been especially sourced for stability, comfort and ease of use.
- Sandalwood also has an extensive, private and safe Dementia friendly garden with colourful, sensory plants, a water feature and a special area for seating and bird feeding. There is also a summer house where people can relax in comfortable and safe surroundings.
- A hot nutritious two course meal and regular refreshments throughout the day. Special attention is given to each person's dietary needs and any food allergies. Alternative menu choices are available if requested.
- Meetings are held regularly for feedback ensuring we give the best service possible.
Prices:
- £65 for a full day
- £35 for four hours. Flexible hours offered throughout the day with lunch included at each session
