About Bolton Carers Support
In Bolton, we have a carer support service that provides support to people that care for a relative or friend with a mental health condition on a regular basis. The service signposts carers to where they can get more information and advice, get a break from their caring role and to have the opportunity to meet others in a similar situation at group sessions.
Why should you volunteer?
We have a group of carers that come to the group on a Monday who enjoys arts and crafts. They would like to increase their skills and learn more techniques for arts and crafts. This is a great opportunity for you to share your skills, meet other people and to give something back.
What will you be doing?
-
To plan sessions and liaise with carer support workers about materials needed for the group.
-
To plan short sessions for people to learn new art and craft skills.
-
To provide support people with being creative and exploring different art techniques.
-
To follow organisational procedures e.g. Safeguarding, Health & Safety, Confidentiality, Equality, Diversity & Inclusion.
What skills and experience will you need?
You don’t need a qualification but you do need to confident with different art techniques e.g. drawing, painting. We are looking for volunteers who are reliable, patient, have empathy and are comfortable sharing their knowledge and skills. Some experience of being a carer is beneficial but not essential.
