About Sandalwood
Making Space is a values led charity and its vision is for wellbeing to be at the heart of social care.
Sandalwood Day Centre has a small food delivery service to older people in the Wheatley Hills and Intake area. Volunteers will help us to reach more people in the area and it helps raise money for day centre. Meals (including pudding) are £7 and there is the option of getting a tea of sandwiches and cake for £4
All money raised goes to funding activities and support for older people at the centre to improve wellbeing and reduce isolation.
Why should you volunteer?
This is a good opportunity to give something back and help people in the local community to get a hot meal and reduce isolation. You will get to meet people and have a sense of purpose. Travel expenses reimbursed for deliveries at 45p per mile.
What will you be doing?
-
To pick up meals and deliver them to people.
-
To spend a couple of minutes chatting to people to reduce isolation.
-
To check that they are okay and report any wellbeing concerns to staff
What skills and experience will you need?
You need to be able to have access to a car and a full driving licence. You would need business insurance and live in or near the Wheatley Hills and Intake area. Some experience supporting older people is useful, either professional or personal. We are looking for volunteers who are caring, friendly, patient and have some understanding of the challenges older people face.
