About Kingshill

At Kingshill, people receive support that is personalised to them to promote their recovery from a mental health illness with the aim of independent living. Staff and volunteers work with people to build their skills, to try new things and build on hobbies/interests.

Why should you volunteer?

As a volunteer you will be able to spend more time with residents doing leisure/recreational activities having fun. You will also have the chance to gain experience, meet people and be part of a friendly team were you will have the chance to learn from other people.

What will you be doing?

  • To liaise with staff about supporting residents with their interests and activities which will help with their recovery and to build confidence.
  • To support a small group of residents or one to one support with getting involved in activities at the service and/or going out locally.
  • To provide a listening ear and to build a good rapport with residents.
  • To be aware of the organization’s Health and Safety Policy and act responsibly.

What skills and experience will you need?

No qualifications are needed but some experience with supporting people with a mental illness is useful but not essential. We are looking for volunteers that are good listeners, positive, want to help others, patient and are a people person.
