Raising spirits!

March 2020 · 5 min read

Staff across Making Space have been raising spirits of the people we support, their families and even their colleagues in a number of positive ways.

Support workers, Maria, Linda, Cathy, Carol and Rose, lifted spirits during their shift at Bailey Court in Liverpool, by getting pumped up to music and enjoying Zumba moves… all whilst being masked up.

Rachel Peacock, Chief Executive Officer said: "Our fantastic staff have been going above and beyond to keep the people we supports’ routine and sense of assurance undisturbed and the morale of their colleagues upbeat.

“As as we face a global crisis together, it’s important to find positive ways to not only look after ourselves but also each other.”

Tony Beard, Team leader at Devonshire Road, gave his colleagues a live Elvis concert, it. To continue raising the spirits of his colleagues across Making Space, Tony will be live streaming an Elvis tribute on Making Space’s Facebook page at 11am on Wednesday (March 25).

It’s not just Making Space staff that could do with a pick me up, the people we support are at the heart of everything we do. We are passionate about ensuring the people we are support stay connected to the local community, their families and other people who use Making Space services.

Websites and Apps such as Zoom, are perfect for keeping us in touch with one another during this challenging time. Warrington Day Service are holding a virtual coffee morning and encouraging the people they support at the service to join in the fun, from the comfort of their own homes.

Being indoors doesn't mean you can't stay active, staff and residents at Rivacre House were quick to jump on their feet to an Olly Murs tune, exercising whilst also having fun.
