Chief People Officer shortlisted for prestigious ‘Outstanding Contribution’ award
Phil Orton was also named Executive Leader of the Year at the Social Care Leadership awards in October and has been shortlisted for a second prestigious accolade.
Phil has been shortlisted for the Outstanding Contribution award in the Great British Care Awards (GBCA).
Currently chief of people for Making Space, Phil is responsible for 1200 employees across the UK. He is in line for the award in recognition of a 30-year career in care, which began as a 17-year-old care assistant.
Phil’s commitment and dedication to the care sector have been recognised by judges of the award, which will be presented to an “individual who has made a long-term outstanding contribution to social care.”
He has been shortlisted for the North West region, and if he takes home the trophy from the ceremony at the Kimpton Clocktower Hotel in Manchester in November, he’ll go on to the national final in March 2023.
CEO Rachel Peacock said: “We’re thrilled that Phil’s dedication and commitment have been recognised once again, this time by the judges of the Great British Care Awards,” she says.
“He advocates not only for all the employees and volunteers who work with Making Space, but also the tens of thousands of people we support across the UK. Because he worked his way up through the ranks, everything he does comes from a place of knowledge and he’s still often to be found on the frontline, sleeves rolled up and getting on with the job.
“He really has made an outstanding contribution to the sector, and it would be wonderful to see that officially acknowledged with this award.”
The Great British Care Awards are a series of regional events throughout the UK and are a celebration of excellence across the care sector. They pay tribute to individuals who have demonstrated outstanding excellence within their field of work, from frontline staff such as care workers and care managers to people who have made an impact in other ways such as training and innovation.
