Hollymere rated 'good' by CQC
The high standard of care at one of our extra care housing schemes has been praised by health and social care watchdog the CQC (Care Quality Commission).
Hollymere, a purpose built extra care housing development providing independent living for people over the age of 55, was rated Good across every category.
The scheme was last inspected in 2016, when it also received a Good rating.
Inspectors, who visited in March 2023, were impressed with the exemplary level of care at the scheme.
The report, published in full on the CQC website, highlighted that: "People felt safe with the care they received" and that "The provider aimed to support people with a consistent staff team."
It continued: "People's needs were assessed and incorporated into personalised care plans" and "People were supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives."
The inspectors said the people who lived at the service praised the kindness and respect offered by the staff.
"The best thing is the care team, they are fabulous,"
Shane Parnell, regional head of operations, said: "Hollymere is a great example of how extra care housing can allow people to live independently with as much or as little support as they need.
"The happy and positive relationships and interactions between tenants and the staff team play a crucial part in Hollymere's success and this was noted by the CQC inspector during her time at the service.
"We are immensely proud of how the entire staff team has contributed to this excellent result. They are people for whom caring is about so much more than just a job. The levels of dedication we have come to expect from our staff truly sets Hollymere apart.
"I am particularly grateful for the endless hard work put in by team leaders Heidi Francis and Kim Clibery."
Heidi said: "Myself and Kim have worked at Hollymere since the day it opened and it is not an exaggeration to say the place is in our hearts. We laugh and smile every day and feel honoured to come to work every day in such a happy environment. This is the best job I've ever had."
Kim said: "Hollymere is a place of laughter and good humour. The tenants keep us on our toes and make our day. Because we know everyone so well as an individual, we can personalise our approach to care. Above all, it's about making everyone feel special and important."
Hollymere offers 72 one and two bedroom rented apartments, each with a level-access wet room, lounge and kitchen. In addition to the self-contained flats, residents benefit from communal facilities including a bistro, hairdressers and lounge area as well as a full programme of activities and events. There is also a garden space.
Care is individually tailored, from a daily wellbeing check, to care and support a few hours per week or several hours per day. The team has extensive experience in supporting people with learning disabilities, mental health conditions, dementia, long-term health conditions and physical disabilities.
Hollymere currently has a small number of vacancies and you can contact the team on 0151 356 3630.
