A residential care home manager is in the running for a national award in recognition of his leadership skills at Syrian House.

Mark Lake has been shortlisted in the Manager of the Year category of the Housing With Care Awards. The national awards are being held for the first time this year to recognise and celebrate excellence in supported and extra care housing.

The Housing With Care Manager of the Year award will recognise an outstanding on-site manager who has responsibility for both the building and the care service delivered on site. Evidence of outstanding results will be essential for the judges in deciding who takes home the trophy.

Winners will be announced at a ceremony at the London Marriott Hotel on Grosvenor Square on 9 June.

“It was a big surprise,” says Mark on being shortlisted. “It’s nice to know Making Space are thinking about their employees and being put forward for an award like this really makes you feel appreciated. Let’s hope I can win it for the team!”
