St Helens housing manager shortlisted for national housing care award
One of our residential care home managers is in the running for a national award in recognition of her leadership skills at Greengate House in St Helens.
Caroline Anders has been shortlisted in the Manager of the Year category of the Housing With Care Awards. The national awards are being held for the first time this year to recognise and celebrate excellence in supported and extra care housing.
The Housing With Care Manager of the Year award will recognise an outstanding on-site manager who has responsibility for both the building and the care service delivered on site. Evidence of outstanding results will be essential for the judges in deciding who takes home the trophy.
Winners will be announced at a ceremony at the London Marriott Hotel on Grosvenor Square on 9th June.
“I feel honoured to be recognised,” says Caroline. “I love working for Making Space, I am passionate about the people that we support and love making a difference to their lives.”
Greengate House is a purpose build residential home supporting residents to improve skills, get back into their community and live an independent life. Now manager, Caroline began as agency worker, then support worker, team leader and senior team leader.
Caroline was nominated for the award by Kim Smith, Regional head of operations. She says: “Caroline’s experience makes her acutely aware of the needs of both residents and colleagues. She knows the support her team need and delivers it openly and transparently. She isn’t afraid to impose rules and disciplinary procedures or ask for support: residents’ safety and comfort are always a priority. As the local authority said in their report, ‘The pursuit of excellence motivates Caroline, and she accepts nothing less.’
“Caroline believes in herself and her team and continually seeks to improve lives.
Residents enjoy daily activities, day trips and weekends away and closely involved in the planning of their care and the outcomes they want to achieve. As Caroline says, ‘People live here - it has to be home’.”
