Matching fund May

6 Days Ago · min read

Making Space services got involved in a new fundraising campaign throughout the month of May.

This year, any fundraising conducted by Making Space services from 1 - 31 May was doubled, up to £500, by our fundraising team from unrestricted donations we have received.

Match Funding May was a new initiative designed to encourage everyone across our charity to get involved in fundraising for their local service and the response was fantastic.

In total, £3316 was raised and so, with match funding, £6246 is going to a variety of our services to help the people we support.

Our fundraising team were able to match fund challenges, events and donations throughout May due to the generosity of our supporters. We receive donations each year that do not state how or where they would like the money to be spent, we then ensure it is distributed throughout our services. For one month, we used these unrestricted donations to double each services fundraised income and make double the difference to the people we support.

Bob Towers, our Fundraising Manager was thrilled with the response, he said: “We would like to thank everyone who took part in fundraising events and challenges as part of Match Funding May. Fundraising is never easy but is often very rewarding. We were really pleased to be able to double the reward for all those who had a go and fundraised any amount of money.”

Thank you to:

Kingshill Residential

Staff at Kingshill took on Tough Swampy. An exhausting obstacle course that is requires you to not only get through all the obstacles but do it while wading through a whole of lot of mud! The team raised £600 for new activities to the people they support on their rehabilitation journey.

Castlewood Court

Thank you to Service Manager, Nina Davies and her team, their families and the people they support enjoyed a 5k fun walk and managed to raise an impressive £717, alongside having a great time together.

The money they raised will be used to rejuvenate their garden area and take the people they support on exciting outings and adventures.

Limes Place

Assistant Manager, Louise Whitehead, swam an incredible 150 lengths of her local swimming baths nonstop and raised £333.

Louise said: “I decided to raise money to put towards activities for the people we support, giving residents the opportunity to access the community and enjoy activities of their choice”.

Carers Wellbeing Service Calderdale

Thanks to Louise Belcher and all the team in Calderdale the service raised £569 at their spring fundraiser.

There was a variety of stalls, tombola’s and raffles for everyone to enjoy. The event brought people together and offered both unpaid carers and cared for a chance to chat, unwind and they all raised a brilliant total for their service.

Open Door

The team have started worked with their local Primark store. Thank you very much to everyone at Primark for raising £169 in May.

Inspiring Minds

Service Manager, Corrina Bannister and Occupational Therapist, Carol Harmer planned to cycle from Preston to Gretna Green in May. Sadly, they were unable to do their challenge due to circumstances out of their control but they hope to complete the challenge later in the year. They raised £245 and so, this was still match funded.

Burtonhead Court

Gemma, one of our brilliant Support Workers, wanted to help the people she supports at her supported living service by fundraising in a variety ways during May and she managed to raise £260.

Ashwood Court

Activities Co-ordinator, Susan, got everyone involved in raising money through raffles and football cards at their residential service. They raised £200 to help the people they support go on more days out.

Canal Walk

Peripatetic Service Manager, Amanda Kean raised £223 of sponsorship for taking part in our annual Canal Walk in May. The money she has raised will go to our supported living services, Waterhouse Court, Wigan and Hope Court.

We would like to say a huge thank you to all of our services and colleagues who took part, their incredible efforts will help people we support.
