We are so pleased to let you know that Our People Awards event is taking place on Tuesday 8 October between 10am (entertainment starts at 11am) – 3.30pm.

The event is taking place at Aintree Racecourse, located on Ormskirk Road, Aintree, Liverpool L9 5AS.

Each year, we host this special event to bring together the people we support, offering a day filled with engaging activities, exhibitors and unique experiences. We have had lots of help from our Making Change group to create a fantastic event, there will be plenty of activities and stalls on offer to get involved in, as well as delicious food to indulge in, it’s set to be a day like no other. We will be able to share the full agenda with you in a few weeks but it includes a keynote speaker, interactive dancing, an awards ceremony and so much more.

Join us from 10am to enjoy a breakfast sandwich and to take in the beauty of the home of the Grand National. Please arrive through the main entrance, you will see our volunteers meeting and greeting outside. The room we have booked is called the Golden Miller Suite which is on the first floor of the Earl of Derby Stand.

We want to make sure you get as much out of the day as possible, which is why our stalls are open from 10am! Welcome speeches will kick off at 11am, and the day is due to finish at 3.30pm.

Registration and breakfast rolls

11am - 11:30am

Welcome speeches from our host Jake Mills (CEO of Chasing the Stigma) and our CEO Rachel Peacock

11:30am – 12.15pm:

We will be hearing from motivational speaker Gary Skyner

12.15pm - 12:45pm:

We will be shining a light on the incredible achievements of the people we support and our dedicated volunteers. Our awards will be hosted by Jake Mills.

12:45pm - 1:45pm:

Lunch will be served at our tables so we can recharge ready for the afternoon sessions. Lunch will be an afternoon tea.

1:45pm - 2:30pm:

It’s time for a bit of musical entertainment.

2:30pm - 2:45pm:

Break

2:45pm – 3.30pm:

Dance Syndrome will be providing an interactive/interpretive dance session based on our values.

The people we support and our volunteers do incredible things every day, we want to shine a light on their amazing achievements and give them the recognition they deserve. To do this, we will be holding an awards ceremony during the event. Finalists have already been contacted but you can see the full list of finalists here:

There is lots of car parking spaces outside of the venue and mini buses will be able to stop outside the main entrance to the venue.

FAQ’s

Will I be able to bring someone on the day if we haven’t booked?

We won’t be able to accept people who haven’t booked a ticket to your event.

Will transport be provided?

We encourage our services to book their own transport but we can provide support if needed. A mini bus is a great idea if there are a few of you coming from the same area. Talk to other Making Space services that are local to you and organise a joint mini bus. Please book the mini bus and claim the cost back using cost centre 0024-2704.

There is parking directly outside of the venue for those who wish to drive

Is the venue accessible?

It's important to us that our venue and event is accessible for the people we support and our volunteers.

Will there be a quiet space?

We will have a designated quiet space at the venue, designed to give you an opportunity to take a minute to yourself. A volunteer on the day will be able to sign post you to these areas.

I need to cancel my ticket, what shall I do?

If you need to cancel your ticket, please email marketing@makingspace.co.uk and we will cancel this.

Please do this at the earliest convenience as we will have a waiting list and we will offer your ticket out to someone else.
