Our Doncaster Carers' Wellbeing Service will support you in your caring role and help you to stay connected in your community.
If you live in Doncaster and are a carer for someone, we are here to help and give you balance in your life.
Our expert staff and people with lived experience can provide one-to-one support, peer support and up to date and relevant information to support you as a carer.
How we can help you...
We will identify the services you, and the person(s) you are caring for, may need and help you to get in touch with them.
We offer a variety of information for carers’. This ranges from useful contact numbers, community care support, transport and finance/benefits. We collect local information and produce information sheets to suit each individual carers’ needs.
We continue to work in partnership with local organisations and promote services via social media platforms.
We know that being a carer can be a challenging at times, which is why our friendly and compassionate carer support workers are with you every step of the way to make sure you receive the best possible support. Our one-to-one support can be face-to-face, either via a home visit or an agreed location, or continued communication via telephone.
Our one to one support evaluates your current circumstances and needs. We will identify the services you, and the person(s) you are caring for, provide emotional 1:1 support and encourage you to attend our (and other services) community groups to enable you to build new friendships and share experiences with other carers.
We believe that being a carer is easier when you have people around you who understand what you are going though. Our peer support groups will bring together a network of carers in your local community, supporting you in having a life outside of caring and helping you to have more balance in your life.
We run a social meeting every Thursday 11:30am - 13:30pm: Doncaster Baptist Church, Chequer Road, Doncaster, DN1 2AL
Other groups include:
- Kirk Sandall Carers Group: 1st Wednesday of each month
- Sprotbrough Carers Group: 2nd Tuesday of each month
- Conisbrough Carers Group: 3rd Tuesday of each month
- Central Carers Group: Every Thursday of each week
- Asian Ladies Group: 1st Thursday of each month
