Warringtonfire hosted a coffee morning in a bid to raise money for Making Space
The event took place on Time to Talk Day, an annual event to encourage everyone to be more open about mental health – to talk, to listen, to change lives.
The coffee morning raised a very impressive £250, which was generously matched by the company to create a £500 huge donation!
As well as raising funds for Making Space, Warringtonfire also raised awareness of mental health in a bid to help more people talk openly.
During the event, which took part over three sessions so everyone could get involved, the team wanted to focus on mental health concerns and provide staff the opportunity to talk and learn about each other, while enjoying some coffee and cake.
Bob Towers, Fundraising Manager at Making Space, said: “For the past 37 years, money fundraised by companies such as Warringtonfire has helped us provide personalised care which has made a world of difference to the people we support.
“As well as fundraising, it’s great to see colleagues coming together to raise awareness of mental health. Coffee mornings like this one give people the opportunity to talk openly about mental health and attempt to break the stigma.
“Thanks to our supporters, we are able to help the people we support live independent fulfilling lives.”
Mental health problems affect one in four of us, yet too many people are made to feel isolated, ashamed and worthless because of this. Having a conversation about mental health doesn’t have to be awkward.
There are so many different ways you can raise money to help us - from running, skydiving or abseiling, to celebrating a special occasion or organising an coffee morning like this one in your community or where you work.
Whatever you do, you will help us to make a real difference to the people we support, to get started, email fundraising@makingspace.co.uk.
