Sara and Lucian’s Hadrian’s Wall adventure
Sara Howarth, Support Worker at Making Space’s Huddersfield Road service and her 14 year old son, Lucian took on a huge challenge for Making Space.
They trekked the full length of Hadrian's Wall, walking for a total of 38 hours in 3 days and raised over £860.
They began their 84-mile journey on the 22nd April and finished on the 24th April along the Roman remains of forts, towers and turrets.
Sara works at the Huddersfield Road service in Holmfirth supporting young adults aged 18-25 with mental health concerns.
Sara wanted to raise as much money as possible “to give the young adults from Making Space an opportunity to have a summer holiday and get experiences they haven’t been fortunate enough to enjoy before.”
“The highlight was walking it with my son, it was such a good bonding experience and seeing the wall for the first time after about 26miles!
The hardest part was the second day, the terrain was very up and down and it felt extremely long, it felt like we were just walking in the middle of nowhere for ages, plus at this point I had gained a few blisters, so my feet were in agony.”
"We both wanted to succeed and not let anyone down so we just kept putting one foot in front of the other. I would do it all again in a heartbeat!"
