Mural Painting Volunteer - Short Term Opportunity

Swallow Lodge is a respite service giving a break to people living with learning disabilities and their families. Working with Lincolnshire County Council, people are supported for a few days or a couple of weeks with their needs – whether that is fun filled or calm and relaxed. We have a small sensory room that would benefit from some artwork to make the space more stimulating.

Why should you volunteer?

This is a great opportunity to meet people, use your skills and to be creative. You will be helping people living with learning disabilities to have a stimulating and relaxing space.

What will you be doing?

  • To volunteer a few hours a week or a couple of days depending on what is convenient for you
  • To liaise with staff and members to gather ideas and materials for the mural.
  • To design and paint the mural at a time that is convenient for you.

What skills and experience will you need?

You don’t need any qualification for this role but you do need some artistic skills and experience. An understanding of learning disabilities and autism is useful but there will be support from staff too. We are looking for people who are reliable, adaptable, patient, creative and a people person.

During your application, a DBS (Disclosure Barring Check) may be done depending on your volunteer role. Your volunteer contact will support you with this and a positive disclosure doesn’t necessarily disqualify you from volunteering with is. The DBS is free of charge and will involve filling out an online form and bringing proof of ID.
