Elaine Johnstone
Trustee
Elaine joined our Board of Trustees in June 2017.
After qualifying as a pharmacist, Elaine worked within the NHS for 33 years, holding senior commissioning roles for 20 years. She has a wealth of sector knowledge and experience, which she is now sharing, via her own business, where she delivers executive and leadership coaching and training. Elaine is also a non-executive director of a housing association, which operates across the UK.
Amongst Elaine’s many professional achievements, one of her most proud moments was leading large medicines management teams that delivered significant improvements in the use of medicines in primary care. She also led the NHS clinical commissioning policy development work for Lancashire and South Cumbria ICS for three years.
A strong motivation to improve service quality and delivery is a theme in Elaine’s career and was a key factor in her wanting to become one of our Trustees. Elaine’s values also match those of Making Space, and she is extremely passionate about using her governance skills and understanding of the sector to support Making Space to continue to deliver the great things we do now, and to do even greater things in the future. Elaine is the chair of Making Space Finance and Business Development committee.
In Elaine’s spare time she enjoys gardening, cycling, and walking, as well as singing in her local community choir.
