Chief People Officer

Phil Orton is our Chief People Officer, responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of all aspects of people management, being a champion for our values and culture. Phil also leads the quality and marketing functions driving continuous improvement and customer experience.

Phil has worked in Health & Social Care for more than 30 years having began his career as a teenage volunteer supporting people with learning disabilities. Phil has worked in number of operational roles including registered manager and for the last 18 years in the field of HR. Prior to joining Making Space Phil was Head of People at specialist nursing and dementia care provider Belong.

Phil is a Fellow of the CIPD, and has undertaken a number of qualifications including a MSc in management, ILM 7 in executive coaching and leadership mentoring, Level 7 in Consultancy and an accredited MBTi practioner,

When asked why he joined Making Space, Phil said:

“It’s people of course, the wonderful relationships we have with the people who use our services and the commitment to being a high performing and quality brand”.

Outside of work Phil enjoys being outdoors, he particularly loves hiking in the hills. When he’s not spending quality time with his family, he also finds the time to be a Scout Leader and is a lifelong supporter of Manchester United.
